This year, California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed that community colleges offer service-learning opportunities through dual enrollment to all high school students. With the recent hiring of Dr. Sonya Christian as the new California Community College Chancellor, the goal is to have every student enroll in dual enrollment classes in order to provide postsecondary opportunities to ALL students.

Like Dr. Sonya Christian, we believe that community colleges have the potential to change the socioeconomic fortunes of its students.

In a recent press release, Academic Innovations CEO and author of the Career Choices series, Mindy Bingham, said, “If as a country we want to help all of our citizens achieve equity, the conversation must include strategies to ensure ALL students have the same opportunity to achieve economic equality.”
