This November, Every Breath Forward℠ will bring lung cancer into view in communities across the country. In Washington, DC, and cities across the country white flags will fill public spaces, each representing lives lost to lung cancer every year and speaking to the progress that has been and continues to be made.
Don't miss out on being a part of these powerful displays and showing the nation and the world that lung cancer demands attention and funding.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Order a flag kit to create a powerful display in your own yard.
- Volunteer to plant flags at installations in Baton Rouge, Boston, Jackson, Raleigh, San Francisco, or Washington, DC, and possibly more cities to be announced. And in DC, survivors and their loved ones can also come together for a special survivor rally on the National Mall on November 1.
- Send pictures of your installation to LUNGevity (social@lungevity.org) and tag with #EveryBreathForward so we can link the images from across the country
- Share facts about lung cancer across your networks and communities

Meetups offers a space to share what's worked, ask what's on your mind, and build real friendships with people who understand what you are going through. LUNGevity hosts monthly Virtual Meetups for specific lung cancer types, caregivers, those who have lost a loved one, and general support.
This September, we’ve updated our registration system and added new meetups for HER2, RET and long-term survivors, along with an added date for those with EGFR positive lung cancer. The Thursday Happy Hour, Healing Together, and Caregiver Connection meetups have new schedules this month, so make sure to check the calendar for all of the new and updated info!

Early Detection in Action: A Practical Model for Lung Nodule Follow-Up
A simple follow-up can save a life, but too many people with suspicious lung findings don’t get the care they need when it can make the biggest difference.
Thanks to a 2021 LUNGevity research grant, thoracic surgeon Neel Chudgar, MD, developed a lung nodule clinic at Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center that is changing that. The program ensures patients with suspicious findings on CT scans don't fall through the cracks and receive the follow-up care they need. The program, located in a diverse Bronx patient population, has helped more than 1,500 patients receive appropriate follow-up care following the identification of an incidental pulmonary nodule, and contributed to earlier cancer detection, including more than 100 cancer diagnoses and about 60 stage I cases.
“We don’t let them get lost in the system,” said Dr. Chudgar.
Now being implemented in other hospitals, this model demonstrates how investing in early detection research can create practical solutions that help more people be diagnosed earlier, when lung cancer is more treatable, and sometimes even curable.

Speedways and State Fairs: LungXperience Keeps Moving
The LungXperience roadshow continued its journey this summer, meeting people where they are and sparking meaningful conversations about lung cancer screening and early detection.
From the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where racing fans gathered for a weekend of excitement and community and several attendees took advantage of the unique opportunity to be screened on-site during the event by the Indiana University Mobile Lung Screening Unit.
Then on to the bustling Ohio State Fair, where families, friends, and fairgoers stopped by to learn more about their lung health, each stop brought new opportunities to share lifesaving information.
Together with AstraZeneca and Kroger Health: Team Tune Up, we're taking the message of early detection beyond traditional healthcare settings and directly into communities across the country.
