Saturday Edition
Well, hello there, good lookin'! I didn't see you come in. Welcome to another wonderful Saturday! It's us again, your friendly and wacky SDC team, here to provide you with another jam-packed edition of things to keep you entertained! I (Vella) hope you're ready for another dose of fun because we love making content for you all! Every newsletter, article and forum post is filled with love from us to you. So I hope we can make your day just a little bit brighter, even if it's just for a moment. That's what we're here for!
I just want to take a moment and give a big ol' THANK YOU to each and every one of you who takes the time to read what we have to say. It means the world to us! Oh, and a life update from me, aside from writing the newsletters, I'll also be interacting with you all on the forums starting Monday. So, if you see me online, don't hesitate to say hi! I would love to chat with you all.
Now, without further ado, let's get into today's activities! To start things off, let’s take a look at the answer to yesterday’s riddle!
Without a bridle or a saddle, across a thing, I ride a straddle. And those I ride, by help of me, though almost blind, are made to see. What am I?
And the answer is... a pair of glasses! How did you all go? I must say, this one had me scratching my head for a while. But, as always, you all came through and nailed it! If you got the answer correct, you’ll find a shout-out waiting for you at the bottom of this newsletter.
Now, onto our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ Today, we’re taking a look at the phrase 'touch grass'. This phrase means to 'go outside’. Kids today usually use this phrase to imply that someone spends too much time online, on their phone, or playing video games, and they need to go outside and experience the real world. So, next time your grandkids are glued to their screens, tell them to touch some grass!
So, what's happening across Australia and the world today?

Who remembers the days of cloth nappies and safety pins? Before disposable nappies, cloth nappies were the norm. Young mums today will never know the struggle of trying to fit a wriggly baby into a cloth nappy and attempting to fasten it with a safety pin making sure not to jab the baby in the process. It was a labour of love to rinse, soak, and wash them. Then you had to hang them out to dry, fold them up, and put them away. It was time-consuming and often frustrating, but it was worth it!

Got Health insurance? Your Premiums Are Going Up Yet Again*
A health insurance rate rise of 2.90% is what Aussies are being slapped with during a cost-of-living crisis. We’ve seen mortgage rates increase, grocery prices spike, petrol prices peak, and now our health insurance premiums will be increasing by an average of 2.90%.
From 1 April 2023, Australians over the age of 65 could be paying up to $167* more per year for their health insurance and that’s just for those of you who are not with one of the ‘Big Five’ health insurers - think BUPA, Medibank, HCF, nib and HBF - if you are with one of the ‘Big Five’ you could be paying up to $194* per year for the exact same cover you currently have.
Click the compare now button to see if you can save before April 1.
