NEWS UPDATE

10 March 2023

Publishers note

With International Women’s Day this week, it was great to see many within our industry recognise the day with news and stories celebrating the contribution made by those within their organisations. One story that caught my eye came from Marine Rescue who shared the news of the first Marine Rescue vessel fully crewed by females working out of Port Jackson. Marine Rescue’s first ever all-female crew became a reality in January with volunteers Julie Barkworth, Sophie Baker and Nicole Bowden. Congratulations and well done.

Speaking of Marine Rescue, a special shout out to all the volunteers, from all the groups arounds Australia. They are the ones who give their time to help watch over us all when we are on the water. The volume of work they undertake was demonstrated by Marine Rescue in NSW who conducted nearly 500 rescues in February.  Read their story to see where those rescues were conducted.

This weekend will host the 2023 Superyacht Australia Soirée. The announcement of their impressive line-up of vessels, participants and sponsors indicates that the sector is not only strong, but also in excellent hands. Congratulations to the team at Superyacht Australia for putting on this magnificent event.

As the cycle of demand and availability of product turns, as does the desire, and need for boat shows. Internationally the boat show season is well underway, and the feedback is very positive. Strong attendance and sales. Locally, the team at Sanctuary Cove are buoyed by the response and bookings for exhibition space. If you are thinking of exhibiting, don’t wait too long. The show is around 10 weeks away so you will have to do it now.
