Student Representative Elections 2026 — Update 3Kia ora koutou, Your student representative election should be coming to a conclusion now if the recommended date of 3 September 2026 was used. Alternative dates If you did not use the recommended date of Thursday, 3 September 2026 then you must use a date in September. If this is not possible you must run your election as soon as you can. After the election: Once the election is over then the RO must declare the result using Notice 8A or 8B depending on whether a voting election was necessary. The School Board Updates form must be completed online for all elections whether a voting election was necesssary or not. If there was a voting election then the voting papers need to be sent to the local District Court with a copy of the roll. No nominations received: If no nominations were received for the student representative position then the board has a casual vacancy that they must fill by holding a by-election. Training for Student Representatives GovHub runs nationally advertised workshops in each region for student representatives. These are usually held in term 4, following the student elections each September. Student representatives can register to attend any of our learning events or access any of our board member resources via the GovHub Resource Centre. They are welcome to contact GovHub for more information on our professional learning and development programmes and for advice.
