Now Open: HMSL Digital Library
We are excited to announce that a digital library is now open and available for all HMSL staff to use. Similar to how you may use a public library card, you can now access many popular titles of e-books and audio books at the palm of your hands. Simply download the app “Libby” wherever you get apps and follow the log-in prompts using your HM credentials. Click here for detailed instructions. You are invited to stop by the tables outside Main Starbucks on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Wednesday, March 1 and Friday, March 3 to ask questions, get help setting up your account and suggest books you’d like to see in the future. There will also be a sweet treat given out to the HMSL “bookworms” that stop by. The library is made possible by the hospital’s Excellence Fund. I CARE Recharge Displays and Celebration
I CARE Recharge wraps up systemwide this week. We look forward to seeing all of the boards that teams have made across HMSL. You can set up your trifold board beginning today, Monday, Feb. 27 at 8 a.m in the Main Atrium. Please be sure to add your department name on the back. Then, on Friday, March 3, please join the Senior Leadership Team at 1:30 p.m. to view the boards. There will be music and popsicles from Pop Fancy. Click here for a flyer of events. Watch Now: Your Voice, Your Improvements!
Imagine taking extended time away from work and returning to be introduced to what we know now as Daily Management. That is what one staff member experienced last year when her department rolled out their Daily Management board. She came back to precise, organized metrics and goals that set her team up for a culture of improvement.
She shares her experience, and more staff share their biggest improvements from 2022, in this week’s video. Remember: when your unit or department implements a new process improvement, we want to hear about it! Simply scan the “Completed Process Improvement” QR code on your badge buddy.
Complete Blood Borne Pathogen Module
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration recently updated its guidelines on blood-borne pathogen exposure education. Health care workers must now take yearly training. All HM staff must complete this training in LMS by March 24. Click here to read more.
HMSL Community Ambassadors
The HMSL Community Ambassador Program is excited to welcome the second class of ambassadors. This program connects our community with information about HMSL Oncology Services, as well as specialized access to those services. To read more about the program and to sign up, click here. Interested staff must attend an orientation on April 5. The deadline to sign up is March 15.
Colorectal Cancer Awareness
You are invited to join Employee Wellness to learn about fighting colorectal cancer. They will be joined by HMSL gastroenterologist Dr. Svetang Desai and HMSL oncologist Dr. Kirtan Nautiyal for virtual sessions this week. Each session is worth 2,000 Virgin Pulse Points, plus an extra 500 points if you attend all three. Click here for dates and times.
Houston Ballet Discounts
HM employees can receive a 25% discount on up to four tickets to select performances this winter at the Houston Ballet. “Romeo and Juliet” is currently running through March 3.
