BCATS news from Waihanga Ara Rau No images? Click here What's coming upWaihanga Ara Rau is the standard setting body for Electrical and Infrastructure standards as well as BCATS, and we are looking to revamp the way we moderate these standards in schools. In Term 2 we will be running three pilot clusters focusing on Unit Standards 18239, 18242, 18243. Keep an eye out for your invitation soon. Saw stools in the wildSaw stools offer heaps of great learning which makes them an excellent Level 1 or 2 BCATS project. They're such a classic project that workshops sometimes overflow with them. If you’re looking for another way to use a saw stool, try propping your gate closed with it. Alternatively, they're perfect for painting trestles! Some useful linksWe've developed a webinar covering Assurance and Moderation for Principals' Nominees (PNs). The webinar focuses on how PNs can best support their Technology Teachers in their engagement with Waihanga Ara Rau as a standard-setting body. It focuses on preparation and participation in moderation cluster workshops so that Technology Teachers get the most out of these events. We'll send a link to the PNs webinar to all PNs whose school has an upcoming cluster. Watch a preview below. Skills StandardsIn case you missed it, the TENZ cheat sheet from November 2023 has a link to another webinar we held that explains what the BCATS Skills Standards will look like. Alternative entry into secondary teachingTechnology Teachers are still in high demand. Universities of Canterbury and Waikato provide alternative pathways into secondary teaching, recognising experience in the trades.
