Angela R. James, MBA, LMSW, MEd, Care Navigator: In her new role, Angela is the first point of contact for those seeking support while offering comprehensive disease information to people with lung cancer and their families/caregivers.

Angela previously served as a Care Coordinator for Wellthy, where she provided resources to address the various lifestyle and financial challenges often caused by illness.

 
 

She also worked as an AdventHealth case manager, where she ensured patients were given the tools necessary to maintain their well-being upon discharge from the hospital.

Angela received her BS in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi before earning her MEd from William Carey College. She also earned her MBA from Strayer University and her MSW from the University of Southern California.

 
 
 

Eugene Manley, Jr, PhD, Director of Community Engagement: In this new position, Eugene will oversee several key initiatives, including the Minority Scholars Training Program, the Health Equity in Action Speaker Series, and the Annual Lung Cancer Health Equity Roundtable. Prior to joining LUNGevity, Dr. Manley, Jr, worked at the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) as Director of Scientific Programs, where he oversaw the foundation’s research grants.

 

Previously, he served as the Assistant Director, Corporate Alliances, at American Association for Cancer Research Foundation (AACR), a frequent LUNGevity partner.

Eugene received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological and his MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry from Boston University.

 
 

Maisha Standifer, PhD, MPH, LUNGevity Community Scholar-in-Residence: In this role, Dr. Standifer will assist LUNGevity with developing, cultivating, and sustaining relationships with organizational, academic, and community-based research partners. She will also be instrumental in planning and executing the Annual Lung Cancer Health Equity Roundtable.

 
 

Dr. Standifer is currently the Director of Health Policy in the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. 

Dr. Standifer is also a co-investigator on multiple federally funded studies. Before her tenure at Morehouse, she worked at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

She received her BS degree at Spelman College, her MPH from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, and a PhD in Applied Anthropology with a concentration in Medical Anthropology from the University of South Florida.
