The workshop will be delivered across the regions, commencing in the south-west with Busselton on Tuesday 27 August 2024 and Manjimup on Thursday 29 August 2024. Source and Image: We Are Emersyn The Western Australian Government has announced the relaunch of a free advisory service for regional WA businesses, as part of a more than $18 million investment to bolster the sector. The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) will now provide more accessible support through SBDC Regional, which replaces Business Local regional. It means small business owners throughout regional WA can easily seek free advice on a range of general business topics from starting a business to scaling up from a network of SBDC Regional business advisers who are part of the local community and have the expertise and resources to assist. Regional business owners will also gain access to specialised services such as free commercial tenancy advice and a dispute resolution service from the SBDC’s central office, be able to take advantage of low-cost skills development workshops on topics tailored to the unique needs of their area, and be able to use the SBDC's range of business tools and templates. Almost a quarter, or 57,337 of the State's small businesses, are located outside the Perth metropolitan area. This gives potential applicants the opportunity to understand the changes and new eligibility criteria, and to prepare to apply. EMDG Round 4 will open to applications on different dates for representative bodies and Tiers 1-3: • Representative bodies – AWST 8am on 6 November 2024 Applications in each tier will close when the funding is fully allocated. Austrade will provide regular updates on the portal and website about when applications will close. In Round 4, successful applicants will be offered grant agreements for up to 2 financial years for planned expenditure to be incurred in 2025–26 to 2026–27. Commencing in October, the Climate Smart Agritech cohort of the RISE Accelerator program will focus on businesses with technologies and solutions that enhance agricultural productivity and resilience in the face of growing climate variability, resource scarcity and food insecurity. The program is particularly interested in startups and SMEs with solutions that prioritise farmer needs, priorities, and on-farm practices. The RISE Accelerator was launched in 2023 and supports startups and SMEs by helping them to validate, adapt and pilot their technologies in new markets. The program also facilitates connections with potential partners and customers to boost their chances of success in the new market.
