Thursday Edition
Good morning, members, and welcome to another lovely Thursday. Any big plans for today? Maybe trying out a new recipe or playing a few of our games? Either way, we have an absolutely stellar lineup for you today, so without further ado, let's get started, shall we?
Let's start off with our second riddle of the week:
What’s not a game, but can be played, is never seen but often made?
Oooh, this is a good one, but we’re sure you’ll have no problems solving it. If you think you know the answer, post it in our forum here, and if you get it right, we’ll give you a well-deserved shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter.
Next up on the agenda, folks is our Fascinating Fact for the week!
Yawning has traditionally been known as a sign of sleepiness or boredom, so it was assumed that we yawn to oxygenate blood and create energy efficiently. However, a new study suggests that you're yawning because your brain is hot. A group of researchers from the University of Vienna studied subjects in Austria and Arizona and discovered that temperature was the only significant predictor of yawning: subjects were much more likely to yawn at higher temperatures. Other factors such as gender, season, age, humidity, time spent outside, and hours of sleep the night before had no effect on a subject's likelihood of yawning. Isn't that fascinating?
Now then members, what’s happening in Australia and around the world in the news today?

Remember when we had no internet, computer games, and smartphones, and all we wanted was a Coca Cola Yo-Yo? It was a huge craze in Australia back in the day. We used to cash in the soft drink bottles and went from milkbar to milkbar to get one. Who still has one of these?

In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first human woman created by Hephaestus on the instructions of Zeus. In Hesiod’s Works and Days, Pandora had a jar containing all manner of misery and evil (commonly referred to as Pandora’s box). Pandora opened the jar releasing all the evils of humanity. It has been argued that Hesiod’s interpretation of Pandora’s story went on to influence both Jewish and Christian theology and so perpetuated her bad reputation in the Renaissance.
