NEWS UPDATE24 February 2023 Publishers noteI missed a call this morning. I’m not sure how but when I listed to the message it was Michelle. Wow – wasn’t she upbeat. She simply said, “I’m 700 miles from Gladstone, 800 miles from Brisbane and 1,200 miles from Sydney”. She also said that she’d call me back tonight which I am guessing will be a long call. I haven’t heard her so happy and chatty for a while. When and where she lands is still an unknown. She may know more, but I won’t know until we talk. I think that she knows she must take the best and safest route to land, but I also know she is very keen to arrive in Sydney. It will be interesting to see if her head or her heart wins this argument. One of the challenges we have at Marine Business News is deciding what and how much we publish. As is evident by the volume of stories we have published over the last week, the story pipeline is alive and well. Our philosophy is that if the story is interesting and informative, or if we can help someone learn something, or simply be inspired by something that is happening, we will publish it. Irrespective of it being local or international news. That said, there are items that are not published. No disrespect to the authors. I should also add that we have a considerable pipeline of stories to be produced. Thank you to those that have provided us with the content or idea, we promise – it is coming. There were two incidents that made the mainstream media this week. Firstly, our condolences to the Warby family on the loss of their much-loved family member Ken Warby MBE. I had the privilege to meet Ken on numerous occasions. He was a softly spoken gentleman, not what you would expect from someone with the energy and courage to achieve such feats. Fair winds and following seas. We also had Day 2 of SailGP cancelled due to a freak storm that hit Sydney. Many did hear about the incident, but not all saw the vision of the ferocity of the storm. I am sure, like all our readers, we are grateful that there were no major injuries. The SailGP is a fascinating event with a massive international audience. I have no doubt that it will quickly regather, and we should see racing again soon at the next event schedule for Christchurch in NZ. We invite you to look at the many more stories on our website not seen in this newsletter, as well as links to resources, photo libraries, reviews, our international events calendar, our jobs board, and now an eNews log of our pass Friday newsletters. Our newsroom is open, and if your business has news to share, please let us know. Feel free to contact me or our team in the newsroom at newsroom@marinebusinessnews.com.au Stay safe on the water, Vale Ken Warby MBEThe Warby family have announced the passing of Ken Warby M.B.E, after a recent decline in his health.
