June 2025Message from CEODear participants, families and carers,Welcome to the June edition of Onemda Voice.Unfortunately, I must begin with some disappointing news. The NDIS has once again released inadequate price limits for the upcoming year, continuing to overlook the needs of our sector. Despite clear and compelling evidence showing that our sector is experiencing significant cost pressures, the current pricing arrangements still fail to cover the real costs of delivering quality registered services. This ongoing neglect places significant pressure on many organisations, some of which now face the very real risk of closure. There is, however, some hope. The recent release of the Independent Price Committee report outlines essential reforms to the pricing structure, aiming to better reflect the true costs associated with different levels of disability care. While the proposed timelines may not be soon enough for some organisations, these recommendations offer some promise for the future. At Onemda, although we are not immune to these challenges, we come from a position of strength to weather these current headwinds. We remain committed to strengthening our organisation by implementing a range of sustainability measures and ensuring we continue providing high-quality care and value for money for all our participants. On a brighter note, our participants continue to thrive and achieve remarkable milestones. Our Westmeadows Campus is flourishing, welcoming new families and participants into our community. The campus’s biophilic design creates a calming and nurturing environment that supports the wellbeing of everyone who attends. In other exciting news, the Embrace Café trailer has returned to Doncaster East for the winter months. Our participants have been busy serving up coffee, hot chocolates, and teas to staff and participants. If you’re nearby, we warmly invite you to stop in for a coffee; they’d love to see you and showcase their skills. We’re also proud of our participants' involvement in upcoming community events such as the Big Freeze and the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea. We look forward to sharing more of these inspiring stories with you in the months ahead.
