Dear colleagues and friends, The new academic year begins with a celebration of what makes higher music education thrive: relationships – between colleagues, among students, and across borders. Earlier this month, the AEC community gathered in Budapest for the 25th Annual International Relations Coordinators (IRC) Meeting, marking a quarter-century of international collaboration. Hosted at the Liszt Academy of Music, the anniversary edition was filled with forward-looking discussions on mobility, digital tools, and global partnerships, alongside moments of music, culture, and friendship. It was not only a time to reflect on our journey, but also to chart new directions under the theme “The Great Mobility Compass.” As we look back with gratitude, we also look ahead with energy. The IRC Meeting has set the tone for the year to come – one of exploration, connection, and the shared belief that internationalisation is, above all, about people.
