Successful I CARE Recharge Celebration
Thank you for participating in the 2023 I CARE Recharge event. This year’s theme of “Living Our I CARE Values Through Connecting With Others” was evident in the posters everyone created. It was apparent that while we celebrate the I CARE Recharge for one week, we live out our values all year long. We are proud of this record-breaking event with more than 60 posters displayed and over 1,200 employees who visited the Main Atrium for the celebration. Click here for more photos from the event.
HM Family Fun Day Returns
HM President and CEO Dr. Marc Boom recently sent a system email about Family Fun Day, which returns Saturday, May 6 from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium. Wasn’t it lovely? This weeks’ process improvement video includes new food options for the night shift, a ventilator that improved patient care and helped achieve Level III NICU status, plus various organizational improvements that helped save staff time during their workday.
Application Closing
The deadline to apply to become an HMSL Community Ambassador is this Wednesday, March 15. Ambassadors are employees in good standing who help share information about, and connect the Fort Bend community to, our oncology services. Comfort and Safety Course for Nurse Leaders
The system patient experience team has opened the Comfort and Safety Open Discussion Course for nurse leaders. The course will be offered from Monday, March 27, to Friday, May 20. Click here for more information on the course and how to register.
New Patient Access Manager

Above and Beyond Award

Coming Soon: Yo-Kai Ramen
Fresh ramen will soon be available at HMSL. The Yo’Kai Ramen Bot will be placed near the Main 2nd Floor Starbucks in the coming weeks.
The bot offers a variety of bowls that you can custom make using 27 different varieties of veggies and proteins.
There are beef, pork, chicken and vegan options. Stay tuned for when it will be officially available.
March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month helps raise awareness of the difficulties faced by people with impairments in learning, behavior and physical and/or intellectual functioning. Learn more in this week's DEI Corner.
This Week: Caring for You Spring Fest
Don't forget about this week's Caring For Your Spring Fest. Stop by Brazos Conference Center Wednesday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and say hello to our pet therapy volunteers and participate in other rejuvenating activities. This is to say thank you for all you do and offer you a fun break in the middle of your day.
Young Professionals ERG Update
The Young Professionals ERG is the newest ERG in the system. The group recently announced their leadership, including the first community hospital co-chair right here at HMSL, Guneet Kalra. Join the HM Employee Choir
The Center for Performing Arts Medicine (CPAM) is looking for singers to join the system employee choir. They will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” at the Astros game April 18 against the Toronto Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park. Click here for more information and to sign up.
Fighting Breast Cancer During Women's History Month
HMSL is excited to partner with SurviveHER for their upcoming breast cancer education and prevention event, TreatHER. It takes place Saturday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Rosenberg Civic Center. We look forward to being a part of this event for our Fort Bend community.
March is Athletic Training Month. HMSL is lucky to have 26 athletic trainers who work full-time at 17 high school campuses in our area. We also have three outreach athletic trainers who visit more than 60 school campuses in an 8,000 square mile area on a regular basis providing care to student athletes, evaluating injuries, setting up rehab, and helping parents set up appointments for their children. Interventional Radiology Patient: "As much as I dreaded the procedure, the care and attention provided by everyone from the moment I was greeted at check-in until I was wheeled out to the car was very comforting."
OR Patient: "I have to say the staff was great. They were phenomenal. I came in for a surgery that freaked me out and scared me. But everybody there was super polite, super courteous, super helpful. I mean, if I asked for a T-bone steak, a beer and hash browns, they probably would have gone and gotten it for me. They were a great staff. I would recommend Methodist Sugar Land to anyone. The doctor was great. Staff was super great. I can't say enough good things about you guys. You will definitely be seeing me again for all my medical needs. Thank you."
Main 5 East Patient: "This was the first time I actually stayed in a hospital in a very long time. Everyone was so very nice. They all explained everything in a way that a normal guy like me could understand it. They were the best—can't ask for any better. My doctor and his staff were the best In my books. You all get a 5-star rating."
