NEWS UPDATE4 August 2023 Publishers noteThe weather gods shone down on Sydney yesterday for the first day of the International Boat Show. I am going to say up front that the halls kept me busy enough that I didn’t get to venture out to the Marina. But that will happen today. On arriving I immediately noticed the elegance of the halls with an unquestionable and serious amount of effort by exhibitors to deliver quality displays. The next thing I noticed, with the show doors having been open for less than an hour, was that there was not a spare seat at the fishing clinic. Standing with the boat show maestro Johan, we both concluded that a reconfiguration was going to be needed for the weekend crowds. Nothing but compliments from me with an obvious change in the advertising strategy having paid off early. The people were there, and there was an early buzz. The real result will be told by the exhibitors at shows end, but if I was the show organiser, I’d be happy with what I was seeing. Having loved that baby for 23 years, as I say to anyone that asks, I only wish the best for the show and the prosperity it brings to the industry.
