NEWS UPDATE13 March 2026 Publishers noteOur industry exists because of the great people within it. Human nature draws us to the things we enjoy, and for me, writing about people and reading their stories remains one of the most rewarding parts of this role. Sometimes it is about the individual, their history, or what they are doing. At other times, it is about the depth of knowledge they bring to a particular part of our industry. This week’s edition reflects that well. Danny Casey shares reflections on his many years in the industry. We speak with Daniel Alcock about his work at Dometic, hear from Derek Bronk on his move from a glass tower to glassy waters, and Tom Bischoff from the USA takes us further down the path of better understanding antifouling. We also follow Dave Pruckner’s journey to becoming a fully rated Marine Rescue NSW Coxswain. There is also no shortage of industry news. The Australian Superyacht Conference Report has been released, the Great Barrier Reef Commercial Marine Conference Launches National Commercial Impact Study was issued this week, and the Australian Commercial Marine Industry released its Economic Impact Report. Equally important were Marine Rescue NSW’s February rescue statistics. Beyond showing where activity is occurring, those figures help us read between the lines, understand the issues and consider what can be learned from them. Opportunities are also plentiful. Marinas26 continues to build momentum, from its call for innovators and start-ups to the announcement that internationally recognised futurist and keynote speaker Gihan Perera will lead two standout sessions. And if you are looking to enter the marine industry, or simply make a change, have a look at what AMS has on offer. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
