Monday Edition
Good morning, folks, and happy Monday! It’s the tenth day of the tenth month today and I know everyone says this every year around this time, but I am genuinely shocked at how quickly this year has gone. I am convinced time is getting faster even though I know that isn’t physically possible. I just do not understand how yesterday it felt like we were in the month of May and today we’re in October? Before you know it, it’ll be Christmas, and then it'll be May again and I’ll probably be saying the exact same thing? Or maybe I already am repeating myself. Who knows? All I know is you aren’t here to read my rambles, you’re here to read the first riddle of the week. 😉 Today’s riddle is thanks to the lovely member, Jennifer C.
I can be long, I can be short. I can grow and I can be bought. I can be painted, or left bare. I can be round, or I can be square. What am I?
I think this one is relatively easy… Or is it? That’s for you to decide. If you think you know the answer, post it on our forum here. If you get the answer correct, we’ll give you a shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter! Not a bad shout, eh?
Now, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?
-
An urgent warning has been issued to all dog owners about a new deadly disease that has been detected in Australia.
-
A tradie has been given six months to live after his hairdresser found a ‘dodgy’ mole – doctors told him ‘it was nothing’.
-
Dermatologists have warned how you clean your underarms could be making you smell worse.
-
Meet the younger generation who insist on wearing ‘sexy’ outfits to the office. Here's their excuse.
-
Aussies are ‘losing their minds’ over this ‘ridiculous’ new gym that costs thousands of dollars a year for a membership.
-
An organised mum who lost 21 kilos has shared how she preps 65 meals for an entire week in two hours.
-
A new daily hayfever treatment could be an absolute game changer offering ‘long term protection’ against uncontrollable sneezing.
-
Scientists believe that they are one step closer to a pill that can replicate exercise, but how does it work?
-
A woman’s hotel toilet question has divided the internet. Is this toilet ‘private’ enough?
-
Did you know about this hidden switch on your ceiling fan? If you didn’t, it likely needs to be changed right now.
And that is a wrap of your Monday morning news! But don’t worry, there’s so much good stuff yet to come, including a hilarious ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment thanks to member @Leonard Hall - this one had me laughing at my computer. We also have some interesting ‘On This Day’ facts, like did you know that on this day, back in 1899 African-American inventor Issac R. Johnson patented the bicycle frame?
Also, don't forget we have so many games for you all to enjoy! Including 3 Word Story, Can you name 5? and Be careful what you wish for. As well as our classics like our Sudoku puzzles, OzGrid and OzWord, and our Keep a Word, Drop a Word. And our card games, including Solitaire, Blackjack, and Mahjong.
Lastly, don't forget to enter our ‘best piece of advice’ competition. We want to hear the best piece of advice you’ve ever received or given, and the person with the best advice will receive a $100 voucher to your choice of Coles, Woolies, ALDI or IGA!
As always, members, stay safe and happy reading!

Today’s Yesterday’s Australia segment is brought to you by member, @Leonard Hall. ‘At 85 years old I am not a child but at age 34 we arrived in Melbourne as 10 pound poms and we were sitting on the beach for the very first time when a man emerged from the sea and accosted us by saying "where are my thongs" and we had absolutely no idea what he was saying. We later realised he was accusing us of stealing his 'flip flop' sandals that were in fact further along the beach.’
Oh, @Leonard Hall I had such a good laugh at this story. I cannot imagine how confused and maybe relieved you must have been! 😉Thank you so much for sharing this laugh with us all!

Breville the Air Fryer Chef $199 @ BIG W
Enjoy your favourite fried foods without the guilt with Breville's Air Fryer Chef from BIG W. This air fryer is perfect for cooking chicken, fish, chips, and more. It features a rapid air circulation system to cook food evenly and quickly, with little to no oil. I have recently bought myself an airfryer (late to the party, I know) and it has been a game changer for me. I absolutely love it, and I find it so much faster than the oven or frying something up. This airfryer is a lot fancier than mine though and has a variety of cooking functions including bake, roast, grill, and more. It's currently on sale for just $199 for a short time only, after this promotion, it’ll be back up to its normal price of $269, so you’ll be saving yourself a big
$70!

A Rainbow at Mt Barker near Adelaide.
Wow, look who found the bottom of the rainbow! Better yet, the bottom of a double rainbow if you can see the sneaky second rainbow toward the left of the picture. I can’t see that pot of gold, but maybe the photographer, member @gazman21, snatched it up before they took the picture! It’s such a great shot, thank you so much for sharing this with us @gazman21!

A man gets pulled over for speeding!
As the cop approaches the car, the man asks if he can get out of the car and the cop says OK. He then asks the man why he was speeding.
The man says, ‘You see the woman sitting in the passenger side, front seat?’
Oh, this is a classic. A big thanks to member @Cheb for sharing this with us! Click here to read the rest of the joke.
