Positive news on ADR 99/00 for Lane Departure WarningSince our last update in February, we're pleased to announce that the Federal Government has listened to industry (bus and truck) concerns and moved the introduction dates for this ADR to allow all of industry to be able to provide this safety feature. It will be published shortly on the government's ADR website. ADR 99/00 | The 'new model vehicles' date of 1st July 2025 has been REPEALED. There is NO new model vehicle date. The all new vehicles date of 1st November 2025 has changed to 1st September 2027. We will provide more information on the Lane Departure Warning ADRs in next month's update.
ROVER Release 9: Scheduled to go live in JuneThis release will rebuild the RAV public search site and ROVER portal (allows manufacturers to submit vehicle or component
approvals under government requirements), and incorporates user feedback enhancements, such as simplification of compliance information forms. A major system release, select industry users will have the chance to test the system before go-live. ROVER will hold daily feedback sessions (details to come) which all are welcome to attend, plus a demonstration featuring system resources on the ROVER Release 9 site (published this week). More information will be announced shortly on the ROVER portal, monthly newsletter and next ROVER webinar on Thursday 28 March.

Zero emission bus and technical committeesWe're pleased to advise that, after receiving a large number of applications, we've now finalised the zero emission bus and technical committees for 2024. These committees form a valuable part of supporting BIC in shaping future policy and direction. We'll be contacting our new committee members and announce the full list of both committees after Easter. Thank you to all who applied.

Making travel accessible for all through reformThe first major reform to the Transport Standards
since their introduction over 20 years ago will see improved accessibility and independent travel support, meaning a greater level of certainty for public transport customers.
On the cards are updates to information accessibility (like timetables and disruption notifications), onboard signage and audio announcements, along with passenger safety improvements, among others. The Transport Standards will be amended to reflect the new legal requirements for public transport operators and providers. More information will be available in the lead up to the updated Transport Standards coming into effect. We will keep all members updated as new information impacting the #busandcoach industry is released.

Lessons from the Wilsons Valley rollaway and collision investigationThe Office of Safety Transport Investigations (OTSI) recently released an investigation report into a coach rollaway and collision incident at Wilsons Valley that highlighted observations and key considerations for assisting operators to enhance safety measures and prevent a similar incident from reoccurring.
