Saturday Edition
And welcome to another weekend, members! Whew! What a week it’s been! There have been a lot of things happening in the world, and we’re sure you’re all just as exhausted as we are. Yesterday, we learnt with great sadness that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. The world is still reeling from the news, and we offer our deepest condolences to the royal family. She was an amazing woman, and she will be deeply missed. We're sure you’re all celebrating her life in your own way, so if you have any stories you would like to share, please do so in our special tribute article here. It's all so sudden, and it just reminds us that we don't know what tomorrow will bring, so let's tell our loved ones how much we appreciate them today.
But on a lighter note, we have a few things planned for you today, starting with the answer to yesterday's riddle! So what was it again?
What word becomes shorter when you add two letters to it?
Did you get it? The answer is short! Well, when you add two letters to the word 'short’, it becomes 'shorter’. We thought this one was quite clever! We hope you all had fun trying to solve that one. If you got it correct, you'll find a shout-out waiting for you at the bottom of this newsletter.
Now, on to our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ Today we’re taking a look at the term ‘clap back’, which is a popular term used on social media. To ‘clap back’ at someone means to respond quickly to critical remarks and unfair treatment with a witty comeback. Now, we don’t condone fighting or being rude, but it’s always good to have a witty response up your sleeve and stand up for yourself. Some people can hide behind a screen and say whatever they want without consequences. So next time your grandkid complains about someone being mean to them online, you can tell them to ‘clap back’!
Oh, and one more thing before we get into the news. If you’re looking for something to do today, why not check out the latest ALDI Special Buys? There are some fantastic deals on there, so don’t be sure to browse them!

For today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment, we have a lovely memory from member @Loisanne. ‘We lived near a golf course, and on the weekends, we'd sneak in and play in the little pockets of old-growth forest. We'd climb those massive pine trees to the top and enjoy the spectacular views over our suburb, and back on the ground, we'd look for the developing tadpoles in the little ponds. Always watching out for the “Greenie” just made our afternoons exploring nature more exciting! The security fences are too high to scale nowadays. You know, I've met children who have never climbed a tree!..’
Wow, what a wonderful childhood memory! The climbing, the views, the sense of adventure…it all sounds so idyllic. Thank you so much, @Loisanne, for sharing your lovely memory with us.

Pont Du Gard
How beautiful is this photo shared by @dragabagalong of the Pont du Gard in Southern France? This aqueduct is an engineering marvel, built over 2000 years ago by the Romans, spanning over 50 km. It looks almost ethereal in this photo, with the sun shining off the water in the background. It’s no wonder it’s been named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thank you for sharing this amazing piece of history with us!

The other day my blonde neighbour came running up to me in the driveway, just jumping for joy.
I didn’t know why she was jumping for joy, but I thought, what the heck, and I started jumping up and down along with her.
She said, ‘I have some really great news.’ I said, ‘Great. Tell me why you’re so happy.’
Hahaha, this is gold! Thanks to member @Wendy for sharing this hilarious joke with us! Check out the rest of the joke here.
