Sunday Edition
Goooood morning to all of our lovely members! How is everyone doing this Sunday morning? Maybe you’re out and about already? Or perhaps you’re still in bed? Either way, we hope you’re starting your Sunday in a way that brings you a little bit of joy. And the best way to spark a bit of joy (in our humble opinion) is to read today’s newsletter 😉 So let’s get straight into the swing of things, with our ‘quote of the week’.
‘Do something nice even if it’s not your job.’
We really loved this quote when we stumbled upon it this week! Sometimes we feel like being nice to people, especially if you don’t know them, is a bit of a lost ‘art’. People tend to stick to their circles and don’t want to reach out and make friends with strangers, and we get it. Sparking a conversation with someone you don’t know or doing a simple kind act, like smiling at the person passing you on the footpath, can be a bit intimidating, but what if that conversation you had, or that smile, made that person’s day? You don’t know what’s happening in someone else’s life, and being nice, especially when it’s not your ‘job’ to be nice can really change someone’s life. So today, when you’re out and about, why not try doing something nice for someone you don’t know? That could be as simple (and free) as saying good morning to someone you don’t know on your morning walk. We know we are
going to give this one a go.
Now, let's move on to some news from across Australia and around the world this week…
-

-
An Aussie Mum was criticised online for the birthday present she got her seven-year-old son. What do you think?

And finally, DIY fans couldn’t get enough of this mum’s stunning kitchen makeover, which she achieved using a $26 decor item from Kmart.
And that’s a wrap of the top news stories of the week! A heartbreaking week with the news of Olivia Newton-John passing away from breast cancer. She fought unbelievably hard for so many years, but we loved the outpouring of love and support for her on our forum, especially the video of her performing ‘You’re The One That I Love’. May she rest in peace ❤️

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is thanks to member @Hellsbells, who shared their favourite memory of yesterday’s Australia in our Nostalgia competition. Here’s what they had to say: ‘My partner in crime Harvey, who was two years older than me and usually the instigator of our creative fun activities. We would spend hours making a kite with wood and newspaper and then 15 minutes trying to make it fly before it broke. I was always the runner, running through long grass in the cow paddock trying to avoid the pats and divets. The sense of achievement when it took flight, if only a minute, was great. We would usually pick mushrooms on the way home.’ Ah, the
memories of making newspaper kites! I remember them so well. There was nothing more satisfying than when they flew, even if it was just for a brief moment. Thank you for sharing this with us all @Hellsbells!

How gorgeous is this photo that was posted on our forum by member @Suzanne rose? She posted the photo along with the caption, ‘I took this photo in May this year and it reminds me of a painting.’ It honestly does look like a painting, doesn’t it? I think the clouds' reflection in the water mixed with the ripples in the water make it look like a very detailed painting!

Their coat is so well camouflaged in Arctic environments that it can sometimes pass as a snow drift. Interestingly, the polar bear's coat has no white pigment; in fact, a polar bear's skin is black and its hairs are hollow.
