Dear colleagues, This past month has been an exciting time for the AEC community with several engaging events and fruitful discussions. The recent Pop & Jazz Platform platform in Pamplona was a resounding success, with a great turnout and thought-provoking conversations. This was followed by the Southeast Asia Directors of Music Association (SEADOM) conference at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PVGIM) in Bangkok, where Finn Schumacker and I had the privilege of connecting with conservatoire leaders from across South East Asia. We were able to share insights into AEC’s ongoing projects, including PRIhME, which continues to make an impact in higher music education. Our AEC Council meeting in Salzburg hosted by the Mozarteum University was another highlight, as we discussed key initiatives and the future direction of the AEC. Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming European Platform for Artistic Research platform in Tallinn in just a few days, which promises to continue this momentum with further collaboration and exchange of ideas. Thank you for your continued engagement, and we look forward to many more enriching opportunities together. Deborah Kelleher, AEC President At its recent Council meeting held in Salzburg, AEC identified key focus areas for our advocacy work, including access to music education, funding stability, artist rights in the digital era, and student empowerment - all priorities will shape AEC’s strategic efforts in the coming years. AEC is proud to launch the implementation of its Strategy 2030 with the financial support provided by the European Commission for the period 2025-2028. Please keep an eye on the AEC website and newsletters in the coming months for updates on calls for working groups and more details on the content of the work plan. From 27 February to 2 March 2025, the AEC Pop & Jazz Platform (PJP) brought together over 150 participants from more than 20 countries at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra (CSMN) in Pamplona, Spain. The AEC Council gathered in Salzburg for two days of discussions on the future of higher music education. Key topics included advocacy, communication, project updates, and upcoming events, with dedicated workshops on advocacy and communication. The event brought together experts, educators and students from 25 to 30 March in Hanoi for an immersive programme focused on training sessions about new methodologies and performance possibilities. Opera Out of Opera 2 held an immersive final performance of La Bohème in Salzburg, featuring young talents from Mozarteum Universität, Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma, Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto (ESMAE), and KHiO. Led by Maestro Michelangelo Galeati, the event combined live and recorded elements for a unique opera experience. The "Play Green! Recommendations for the Green Transition in Higher Music Education" have been developed by the AEC Goes Green Working Group within the ARTEMIS project, aiming to provide guidance on how the sector can actively contribute to tackling climate change. AEC participated in the 14th SEADOM Congress which celebrated Diversity and Connection in Southeast Asia from March 6 to 8, 2025. The event was hosted by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Bangkok. The Música Creativa Foundation is organising the fourth edition of the Iberian Folk Music Festival in Madrid, taking place from May 22nd to 25th. Check out the events on the festival's programme. The Erasmus Orchestra will perform a special free concert on 10th April at the Auditorium Maximum Theater in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
