Security Alert | COVID-19 Reporting | Holy Week | Tax Day | TAPS Reporting | New Planning Resource | Space Cowboys | Encanto Event ![]() Houston Methodist Sugar Land security is dedicated to the protection of all people and property on the hospital campus. We routinely work closely with local law enforcement to address criminal activity and add extra security measures as needed, including extra security and police patrols, as well as dedicated video surveillance monitoring. We want to make sure everyone is aware of the current criminal trend plaguing Texas and other states. According to the Houston Police Department, there were 1,974 reported incidents of catalytic converter thefts in Houston in the first two months of 2022. This comes after 7,822 were reported to the department in 2021. Nationwide, there has been a 300% increase in these thefts. Converters are a popular item for thieves because they contain precious metals and can be stolen from a vehicle in under two minutes. You can read more here about which cars thieves are targeting and when, as well safety tips to keep in mind. COVID-19 Case ReportingFollowing suit with system-wide changes to COVID-19 protocol, COVID-19 numbers will no longer be reported in the weekly employee newsletter. Of course, we will reinstate COVID-19 reporting if we begin to see an increase in cases or positivity in testing. ![]()
Transparency and Accountability in Patient SafetyThe TAPS system, formerly known as PSN, is a valuable tool in reporting patient safety issues. Reporting these incidents is crucial so that various departments can find out why it occurred and improve any processes or policies to keep patients safe in the future. All TAPS are reviewed by the Quality Department, the unit or department where the incident occurred and any other departments or individuals who might need to be made aware.
