Mobilizing Religious Leaders to Combat Hate

"Religious leaders have a 'moral responsibility' to combat hateful rhetoric,
Muslim World League Secretary General Mohammed al-Issa said at the World
Economic Forum...

"'The dehumanization of others is the first step towards every human
catastrophe,' he added.

"The session he addressed, 'Advancing Interfaith Dialogue for Peace,'
focused on the role religious leaders can play to rebuild trust and bring
forth peace in the world within the context of the Gaza peace plan which
includes a commitment to establish interfaith dialogue...

"Religious leaders must also 'build strong, enduring bridges based on shared
humanity and unity of our common goals.'

"The Secretary General was also joined by Chief Rabbi and President of the
Conference of European Rabbis Pinchas Goldschmidt who reiterated how the 'dehumanization of the other' contradicts the teachings of all world religions."
