NEWS UPDATE27 February 2026 Publishers noteIt’s been a big week, and I’m feeling a little exhausted, and by the look of the weekend sporting calendar, it’s not going to let up. Notably, SailGP hits Sydney Harbour this weekend and it promises to be a spectacular event, made even better by an equally spectacular backdrop. I had the pleasure of attending the Superyacht Australia conference on Tuesday and, amongst a superb array of speakers, we also had the privilege of hearing from Tom Slingsby, driver and CEO of the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team and three-time Rolex SailGP Champion, on the eve of his time at the helm of the Bonds Flying Roos at this weekend’s SailGP. For the first time, the race will set sail at twilight, transforming the action into a golden-hour spectacle on one of the world’s most iconic harbours. The Superyacht Conference was preceded by the two-day inaugural Yacht Charter Show, which by all reports was a huge success. Organisers, exhibitors, sponsors and visitors were all winners at the event, beautifully located at Jones Bay Wharf with the Harbour Bridge and city skyline in the background, a pretty special additional lure to getting more people on the water. This week we also get to take a deeper dive into the Marinas26 Future Smart Conference Program. The team at the MIA simply don’t let up, again delivering an excellent line up of speakers that should give every marine industry participant FOMO. I’m booked in, and I can’t wait. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news. Marine Business News is an Australian-owned marine industry news service publishing local and international news.
