The Story: “There Are a Million Ways to Make a Million Bucks”
On the podcast, Mark Cuban shared a fundamental truth: every product, every service, every idea you see around you is backed by businesses—some small, some massive. From the coffee in your hand to the app you’re reading this on, someone saw an opportunity, sold it, and built something. It starts with curiosity, grows with capability, and thrives with the ability to sell.
In our conversation, we talked about sales as the ultimate skill. Whether you’re selling a product, a service, or even just your own ideas, knowing how to sell is what transforms an idea into a reality. Mark emphasized, “If you want to succeed, learn to sell. Start by selling someone else’s product to understand the craft, then build your own.”
This resonated deeply with me, taking me back to the early Lovesac days. Before we had stores or investors, it was just me, my team of friends and family, and a van full of Sacs. We weren’t just selling beanbags (that weren’t beanbags); we were convincing people to reimagine their living rooms, to see their space as something with the potential to be more than they thought it could be.
