Welcome to your moment to ROAR!
Issue # 25

Dear Friend,

I've never believed in the idea of New Year's resolutions. A new year indeed makes us think about what we want to accomplish over the next 12 months, but we might develop a goal in April or August that is more relevant to our life's plan. What's important is that we are passionate and committed to the goals that we develop for ourselves, regardless of when we decide to commit to it. That goal may take six months, 12 months, or even two years or more to realize. What matters is that we are fierce about making it happen.

How do we keep ourselves accountable for realizing our goals? Start by making yourself accountable! Don't blame the fact that you have no time or the pressures of work, partners, or kids. Only you are responsible for manifesting what you want for yourself.

I like the idea of keeping a journal of goals and checking in on it regularly. In my journal, I try to set up categories that matter to me (such as health, fitness, travel, learning, and philanthropy). To avoid overwhelming myself, I try to focus on two or three goals in each category. For example, in travel, I make planning at least one adventure trip a year (Western Australia in April) my number one goal. I also like to work in a culture trip. I'm just back from Paris, where I was able to see the exciting Rothko exhibit. Here are a few snaps from it. If travel is your priority, what have you planned for 2024?

My approach is to set aside a couple of hours on the first Saturday of every month to check on how I'm doing with my set of goals. After three months, if I haven't done anything to move a particular goal forward, I ask myself why and never feel bad about taking something off the list (or adding something new).

Regardless of your technique, what matters is that you spend time identifying the most important goals and go full gallop to realize them.

This month, we have some great stories and profiles of Re-Imagineers who have set goals and moved their lives forward.

The Golden Bachelor and Theresa found love again in their 70s. Mary Connelly and Adam Weiss tell their stories of rewiring, and Maria Fernanda Ordonez tells us how she decided to launch The Bee Love Project.

I'm also excited to see that members of our ROAR MasterMind community are getting together to do meaningful work. This month, Tamsen Fadal and Bradley Schurman co-authored a piece in the Harvard Business Review, How Companies Can Support Employees Experiencing Menopause.

This month, my friend Chip Conley, founder and CEO of the Modern Elder Academy and best-selling author, launches his new book, Learning to Love Midlife: 12 Reasons Why Life Gets Better With Age. Check it out in the One More Thing section below with an easy link to purchase. It was great to join Chip at one of his many book parties here in New York City.

2024 can become the beginning of your journey to rewire and refire. Watch for more details on our life layering course that may help you to get there. I appreciated all of the input from so many of you to help shape it.

Here's to your year to ROAR forward into your reimagined self.
