Here you will find a recording of our latest meeting, along with a summary of the topic discussed and information on the next meeting. Coordinated by Active Lancashire Recording of the CPAN meeting on the 9th June 2025 Next Lancs CPAN Meeting - National Youth Strategy
The forthcoming National Youth Strategy will prioritise giving young people a stronger voice in shaping opportunities, with major implications for culture, sport and physical activity. Investment includes over £145m for youth programmes in 2025–26, the £85m Better Youth Spaces fund to modernise clubs, and an additional £88m to expand extracurricular and community access, including direct support for uniformed organisations and school-based activities. The Youth Guarantee will ensure 18–21-year-olds access education, training or work, with trailblazer areas piloting local delivery models that could expand access to cultural and physical activity programmes. For councils and providers, the Local Youth Transformation pilot will offer tools and funding to rebuild and strengthen youth services, presenting opportunities to embed sport, arts and wellbeing into provision. While there is also exploration of a youth mobility scheme with the EU, widening international cultural exchange, stakeholders stress the need for sustained investment and workforce capacity to ensure these initiatives deliver long-term impact. For this group, the strategy signals expanded and better-funded routes to engage young people in sports, creative activities, and cultural participation, strengthening both community cohesion and young people’s wellbeing. We will explore the Governments direction of travel and the firth coming opportunities for our sector. Additionally we will be joined by Pete Thomas who will give us an update on the emerging LGR and Devolution conversations within the County. We look forward to seeing you there! |
