Happy Nurses Week
Nurses week is a time where we honor those who make a difference. Nine HMSL nurses were honored in the Houston Chronicle's Salute to Nurses, and two of them made the Top 15 list: Maria Cuesta, RN, BSN and Chung-Win 'Joy' Yuan Fey, RN3, BSN, OCN. Leapfrog "A" Safety Grade - Spring 2023
Congratulations to everybody for achieving a Leapfrog "A" safety grade for spring 2023. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only rating solely focused on a hospital's ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 publicly available hospital safety data measures to assign grades to nearly 3,000 U.S. acute care hospitals twice per year. Overall, all Houston Methodist hospitals received an "A" grade this spring. These grades reflect performance during the height of the pandemic, so it is especially impressive.
This prestigious ranking is a testament to the care and commitment of all of you who work for Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. Thank you for putting patient safety first. It takes a true team effort to achieve this rating.
March of Dimes Fundraising
It is time to buy your raffle tickets for our March of Dimes (MOD) basket drawings. Tickets are now on sale. The baskets will be displayed on May 8 at the hospital and on Chris' Corner. Family Fun Day Recap
Houston Methodist Family Fun Day was a huge success! Thank you to everybody who joined us at NRG Stadium. It was great to see families and their little ones enjoying Disney Jr. Live. And some of your dance moves during Stevie Wonder's performance were quite memorable.
Women's Empowerment Meeting
The Women's Empowerment Alliance ERG welcomes you to join their May general meeting in which honored guest, Dr. Inna D'Empaire of HM Psychiatry, will be highlighting women's mental health in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Thank you Spring 2023 Interns
HMSL is excited to celebrate our 2023 spring semester interns. Richard Eke, Lauren Burger and Malik Tousant finish their time at HMSL this week and will all graduate from Texas State University. Richard worked with the Administration Department, Lauren worked with the Operations Department and Malik worked with the Marketing and Strategic Partnerships Departments. If you see them, tell them congratulations!
This month, Houston Methodist recognizes the importance of improving access to care and resources for people with mental illness and their families. We are highlighting the mental health programs and resources that Houston Methodist offers, and we encourage you to use them when you need them. Whatever you’re going through – depression, anxiety, substance abuse, worrying about your children, grieving the death of a loved one or a broken relationship – we have tools to help you get better and cope. Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
In May, Houston Methodist celebrates the contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans who have enriched the history and culture of our country.
Haitian Heritage Month
May is also designated as Haitian Heritage Month. It is an opportunity to honor the island country's rich culture, distinctive art and unique traditions.
Jewish American Heritage Month
This month, we celebrate the generations of Jewish Americans who helped shape American history through their leadership, talents and achievements.
