Well - there has been a chunk of time that has passed since our retreat gathering in March.
A few things have been ‘on the move’ behind the scenes, but we have now secured some next steps. So, we are delighted to provide this update to you.

Webinar speakers - we need your connections
Those of you who were at the Retreat or who received our newsletter following on from the Retreat will recall that we had asked for members of the network to step up to host some of our webinars throughout the year. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any response to this.
The best option to have a diverse array of interesting speakers is for members of the network to connect their contacts in to this kaupapa. You will undoubtedly know fabulous people who could contribute as a speaker. It can be an interview style kōrero, so that it doesn’t require a great deal of preparation and the conversation can flow within some planned questions. And, we have written up all of the material you can share with potential speakers about the purpose and nature of the group and how our webinars work. We also provide full support around invitations and setting up the tech.

Retreat 2026 - We need your feedback
If you attended the retreat and have not filled in the feedback form, we would really appreciate if you did so. Especially as we seek to extend the support available for the network by approaching other funders we need to hear about the value this network has for you. Thanks for attending to this if you haven’t done so already.
Upcoming Webinar: Jade Hohaia about the learnings from the Kiwa governance programme
On Wednesday 2nd September from 12-1pm, we have a zoom meeting where we will hear from Jade Hohaia about the learnings from the Kiwa governance programme. In this webinar, Jade will be interviewing Tapu Vea, who has been part of the Kiwa governance initiative. Tapu hails from the beautiful Kingdom of Tonga, works as a Pacifica Future Student Advisor, and contributes across a range of governance bodies.
Over the last year, the Kiwa governance kaupapa has had a special emphasis on celebrating Māori and Pasifika leaders, whānau, and community servants in governance roles, providing recognition, peer mentorship networks, and leadership awards.
Jade is soon to complete five years leading the way for the Wilberforce Foundation as the Advisor on partnerships with Māori, so we are looking forward to her inspiring us again as she departs.

2027 Retreat
We are also in the process of planning for our 2027 retreat. One of the challenges now with our group growing in size is that we need a bigger venue, and we need to secure some additional funding support to help with costs. That is a fantastic challenge to rise to!
We know you will be eager to get dates in your diary for next year, and we are aiming to share a 'save the date’ in September.
This retreat will be in the North Island.

Every time we gather, people say “I know some other people who should be here!” We would love you to put your thinking caps on now and consider who you might forward this email to, to invite their participation in the Christian Women in Governance Network. While the offerings are targeted at Christian women who are in governance in Christian for-purpose charitable entities, we also welcome women who are exploring how they might contribute in governance roles, and those in other governance in other spheres.
This is a network - our approach is intentionally to have some coordination to hold things together, but we do want and need our members to play an active role. Let’s not treat this as a programme, but as a group where we all have a part to play.
