LUNGevity part of Winning Cancer Grand Challenge Team

LUNGevity is honored to be the US patient advocacy organization that is part of the new Cancer Grand Challenges team taking on the challenge of cancer cachexia, a wasting syndrome associated with late-stage cancer.

The Cancer Cachexia Action Network (CANCAN) team, with investigators from the UK and US, is receiving $25M to tackle this critical obstacle in cancer research. Cachexia is responsible for up to 30% of cancer deaths, and is estimated to affect 50% of lung cancer patients.

The Cancer Cachexia Action Network represents the world’s first virtual institute with a mission to solve cancer cachexia.
