The Village has provided additional time for the community to participate online in the Village’s first-ever Strategic Plan. Residents are encouraged to take the online survey, provide comments in the community forum, and share ideas on the Ideas Wall through December 19. Your input will help shape Northbrook’s future! Popular Annual Financial Report
The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the Village’s fiscal year that ended April 30, 2025 is now available. This report contains key financial information presented in a simplified format compared to the Village’s detailed annual audit. Find It in Northbrook, a Village and Chamber of Commerce program, highlights Northbrook as the go-to spot for shopping, dining, and family fun throughout the holidays. The Find It in Northbrook website features a growing list of seasonal promotions from local businesses, making it easier than ever to discover festive deals and gift ideas close to home. This year, holiday
fun has a new face: Ferris, Northbrook’s newest influencer. Ferris will be bringing cheerful gingerbread vibes to local businesses and sharing tips on great places to shop, dine, and explore this season. Visit the Find It in Northbrook website and follow the Facebook and Instagram pages to see Ferris in action and keep up with all his holiday adventures. Be sure to watch for “Ferris Approved” businesses all around town!
Electronics Recycling

Recycle your old and unused electronics! Residents are responsible for removing items from their vehicles. Do not leave items at the Village’s facility outside of the recycling events. 1st Tuesday of the month, 7am-3pm & 1st Saturday of the month, 9am-noon.
Holiday Craft Fair | Northbrook Park District

The Northbrook Park District's Holiday Craft Fair welcomes all creative people to sell their new and homemade items, giving shoppers a chance to find unique gifts. Winter Compost Collection

LRS begins every-other-week collection of compostable materials on Wednesday, December 10 through March 31. Weekly compost collection will resume on April 1. Please note: The last weekly compost collection was on Wednesday, November 26, and there was no compost collection on Wednesday, December 3.
WaterSmart Customer Portal Open House

The Village’s contractor for the Automated Water Meter Project and Village staff will host WaterSmart Customer Portal Open Houses in the Village Hall Board Room. Sessions will cover how to register, key portal features, and ways to customize WaterSmart to fit your needs. Attendees are encouraged to register for the portal in advance or bring their account number, along with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop for on-site setup assistance.
Holiday Parents Night Out | Northbrook Suburban YMCA

Toys for Tots and Coat Off Your Back Drives

The Village of Northbrook is collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program to help bring holiday cheer to children in need. Donations can be dropped off at Village Hall, the Police Department, or Fire Station 11 through December 11. We’re also supporting the Rotary Club of Northbrook’s Coat Off Your Back Drive, collecting winter coats for adults and children at the Northbrook Public Library, Village Hall, and Sunset Foods through December 15.

Alarm System Registration Renewals
All residential and commercial alarm systems must be registered to provide the Police Department with accurate information. Renewal occurs each January with a $20 renewal fee. Permits expire December 31 each year.
