Milestone for international agribusiness at Peel Business Park

Regional Development Minister Don Punch has announced that leading global bakery agribusiness ARYZTA will develop its first Western Australian facility at the Peel Business Park, 10 kilometres north-east of Mandurah in the Shire of Murray. It expands on the company's global bakery network, comprising 19 bakeries across Europe. It also has operations in a further seven countries that service major fast food and retail customers across the Asia-Pacific.

ARYZTA will bring world-class industrial bakery technology to the facility, which adopts advanced Al-driven quality assurance, robotics, storage and monitoring systems for ingredient quality and biosecurity. The Swiss-owned company will be a foundation agrifood tenant in the Park – strongly aligned with the $49 million Transform Peel project and Food Innovation Precinct WA – established to drive new industries, create jobs and improve food security through innovation, research and collaboration.

The strategic location of the bakery and close proximity to high quality local raw materials such as wheat and other grains will provide ARYZTA with a significant opportunity to export their products, primarily to the Asian markets. More...

Global dairy prices to rise despite sluggish milk supply

Subdued milk supply and lacklustre demand dampened global dairy commodity prices in 2023. However, the global dairy market appears to be entering a new phase, with prices poised for an upward trajectory throughout 2024, according to a new report from agribusiness banking specialist Rabobank.

Australia's milk supply has staged a modest recovery in the first quarter of the new season, with farmgate milk prices poised to remain at or near record levels for the rest of the season.

Rabobank expects Australia's exportable milk surplus to gradually stabilise over the course of 2023-24. More...

Australia-Netherlands trade and investment report

Austrade has released its Australia-Netherlands Trade and Investment Report, analysing the industry strengths and growth areas of both nations. The report identifies promising areas for trade and investment activity, including agribusiness and food.

For Australian exporters, the Netherlands is a gateway to continental Europe and has a similar population to Australia, making it an ideal trial market within the region.
Australian exporters can explore opportunities in wine and spirits, food and feed ingredients and fresh produce.

The Netherlands has set an ambitious goal: to become the global leader in circular agriculture by 2030, achieving a 50% reduction in primary resource usage. To achieve this, the country is undergoing a significant shift in focus, emphasising optimisation of resource use and food production in a way that is sustainable and environmentally responsible.

To significantly increase its agricultural output, Australia must accelerate its adoption of cutting-edge foodtech and agtech solutions across the entire supply chain. By implementing innovative technologies like precision agriculture, vertical farming, and robotics, Australia can learn from the success of countries like the Netherlands and achieve substantial yield boosts, resource efficiency gains, and improved environmental sustainability. More...
