NEWS UPDATE

30 May 2025

Publishers note

Last week was tiring with plenty of activity on the Gold Coast. Full credit goes to those who took advantage of every opportunity to grow their businesses—not just the sponsors and exhibitors, but also the delegates and visitors who made the most of the networking and business opportunities alongside the industry's key players who gathered in Southeast Queensland.

From experience, I know that visitor numbers at, and post boat shows, are a hot topic. This year, the Sanctuary Cove team reported “an impressive 45,865 visitors” over the four show days. Earlier reports also said it was “officially the largest ever Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show” with “824 boats in total – 422 on water and 402 on land,” marking an increase of almost 10% compared to last year’s Show.

Typically, the banter was rife during the show regarding its success or otherwise. One thing is certain: with the looming changes in Sydney, we’ll have to wait and see how the evolving boat show landscape will impact the market in the years ahead. It was disappointing to note that one major outboard brand was not present and had withdrawn from future boat shows. Let’s hope our show circuit sees a resurgence in the coming years and reclaims its place as the powerful marketing platform it once was.

I do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
