Waterfront House
Waterfront House | RIBA Stage 3
We’re pleased to have supported the Stage 3 developed design of Waterfront House, a new cultural venue within a reworked 19th-century grain warehouse on the Ipswich waterfront, now progressed to tender.
As MEP consultants, we translated the architectural vision into a compliant, cost-conscious and low-carbon scheme. A dock-fed water source heat pump will meet around 90% of annual heating and cooling demand, supported by gas boilers for peak load and resilience. We adopted a fabric-first approach by retaining existing structure, adding thermal mass and introducing a central atrium for stack ventilation, reducing the reliance on mechanical systems.
A strong example of adaptive reuse, passive design and practical low-carbon engineering, Waterfront House is set to open in 2028.

Brentwood Boarding School
Completed
The new boarding house at Brentwood School has now been successfully completed, delivering 122 single en-suite bedrooms arranged across three distinct zones: dedicated houses for girls and boys, and a shared central hub with dining, social and recreational spaces opening onto landscaped courtyards.
Appointed as client-side MEP consultants, we supported the delivery of a fully accessible building designed as a genuine home away from home. While the School’s history spans almost 500 years, this completed project reflects its continued investment in high-quality, future-focused facilities that support modern student life.
Sustainable design was integral to our approach for the scheme, with a centralised heat store, energy-efficient heat pumps and EV charging infrastructure contributing to reduced operational carbon.
The new Sixth Form Café by Benugo now provides a welcoming community focal point within this thoughtfully designed environment.

New Victoria Theatre Woking
Carbon Reduction
We’re delighted to be developing a low carbon plant replacement strategy for the environmental systems serving the New Victoria Woking Theatre.
Phase 1 of the project will replace the existing air handling plant serving the New Victoria and Rhoda McGaw auditoriums with new air handling units featuring integrated heat pumps to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Our operational carbon analysis for phase 1 is showing:
Predicted demand reduction: 20310 kgCO2 / year
Predicted GWP reduction: 92%
These upgrades, including more efficient fans and improved heat recovery, will significantly reduce energy use and carbon impact — a big step toward a more sustainable theatre environment.

Awards
Kensal House RIBA Shortlist
We’re thrilled that the SPID Theatre Company at Kensal House has been shortlisted for a RIBA London Award! This Grade II* listed 1930s Modernist landmark by Maxwell Fry and Elizabeth Denby was designed to bring people together through shared communal spaces.
Working alongside the tenant SPID Theatre, we were proud to deliver the low carbon MEP, building acoustics and lighting design that helped bring these historic spaces back to life, fully accessible and fitted with modern facilities. Nearly £4m of public funding supported this project.
It’s wonderful to see such thoughtful community-focused architecture celebrated.

Announced
Theatro Technis
An independent theatre and one of Camden’s longstanding cultural venues, Theatro Technis was founded by Cypriot actor, director and writer George Eugeniou and has supported new writing and underrepresented voices for nearly seventy years.
We are working with Wild Architects on the theatre’s next chapter: the low carbon building services design and acoustics for the refurbishment and extension of the existing 120-seat venue. The proposals will create a new Cypriot National Theatre in London, including a 300-seat auditorium, studio theatre, cabaret space, and serviced apartments for touring companies, placing community and collaboration at the heart of the theatre’s future.
