Thursday Edition
Good morning members, and welcome to our Thursday edition of the newsletter! We hope you all had a lovely night’s rest and are ready to take on this Thursday with us. If the weather is nice where you are, why don’t you grab your hat and sunscreen and go for a walk outside? You’ll be surprised at how much better you feel after some fresh air and a bit of exercise. Plus, it’s a great way to stay active and improve your mood, memory, and sleep quality. Perhaps, I (Vella) should add taking a walk every morning to my resolution list for this year. Some of you have added it to your list, so why not? Speaking of resolutions, I would like to thank everyone who shared their New Year’s resolutions with us. It was really inspiring to read all the different goals our members have set for themselves in 2023. It’s not too late to join in!
Now back to our newsletter. First things first, it’s time to give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. For those of you who don't remember, the riddle goes:
The more you cut it, the less holes it has. What is it?
Did you get it? The answer is a net! Why? Well, a net has a lot of holes, but if you cut it, multiple holes become one, so there will be fewer holes in the end. We also accepted those who answered Swiss cheese! We love your witty answers! As expected, a fair few of you got the answer correct! And you know what that means, right? You get a shout-out! So stick around, and you’ll find a shout-out waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next on the agenda for today, it’s time to share with you a Fascinating Fact!
Did you know that one adult giraffe has the same number of bones in its neck as a human? That’s right! Even though a giraffe's neck can be eight feet long and weigh up to 272 kilograms, they only have seven neck vertebrae - the same number of neck bones that humans have! But unlike our vertebrae, each of theirs can be up to 10 inches long. These large vertebrae link together to form those famous long necks that help the giraffes reach high branches and leaves so that they can eat. Cool, right?
Oh, and before we get into the news, I'm excited to announce that we released our 2023 discounts eBook a couple of days ago and it contains great discounts and deals from a variety of businesses across Australia. You can download it from our thread here. Don’t forget to check out our other free eBooks while you’re there such as the SDC Guide To Cyber Safety and our Ultimate Guide to Household Hacks.

Today’s Yesterday’s Australia segment is a lovely memory brought to us by our dear member @Dawnie. ‘I loved our family holidays to the caravan park in Queenscliff, Victoria. Each day, we would wait for the bread and milk van to go around the camp, racing up to get what mum wanted. Then, of course, you had that at home with the sun crust baker van, then the iceman in his van and of course, the milkie of a morning. Ballarat had the Rawleighs man with his truck bringing clothes for the entire family. All the kids of today are buying from the shops. Good old days were a lot more fun.’
Wow, those sound like such fun and memorable family holidays! It's so interesting to think about how different life was. Thanks for sharing this memory with us, @Dawnie!

Alibi is a plea or mode of defence in which a person on trial for a crime proves or attempts to prove that they were in another location when the alleged act was committed. It is derived from the Latin word alibi, which means elsewhere or at another area.
