2026 Mid North Coast Business Awards Finalists

The Nambucca Valley Shop Local campaign, running this October, is a great opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services while encouraging residents to support the local economy. Signage and Wayfinding Strategy

Nambucca Valley Council is developing a new Signage & Wayfinding Strategy to improve navigation, promote local attractions and services, and create a stronger, more consistent identity across the Valley. Local businesses are encouraged to have their say by completing the online survey and sharing insights that will help shape a signage network that supports visitation, business growth and positive visitor experiences throughout the region.

Free Business Workshops

Thanks to City of Coffs Harbour and Sparrowly, Nambucca Valley businesses have the opportunity to attend two FREE workshops in Coffs Harbour on Thursday 10 September. This is also a great opportunity to network with businesses from across the region.

The workshop topics are Building Business Resilience and Welcoming All Customers. Places are limited

Digital Solutions Program

ASE recently delivered a workshop to Nambucca Valley businesses focusing on AI.  Following on from the workshop businesses across the Valley are able to access the Digital Solutions Program for up to 5 hours of one-on-one digital advice from a qualified and experienced business adviser for a small fee.

Innovate with nbn Grant

Regional and remote businesses are invited to apply for the Innovate with nbn Grants Program, which offers a share of $125,000 in funding to help innovative organisations grow, expand digital capabilities and strengthen regional communities. Eligible businesses connected to the nbn network can apply across a range of categories, with grants recognising organisations that are driving digital adoption, creating local opportunities and supporting regional economic growth.

Applications close midnight Monday, 12 October 2026.

Major Event Grants Program Open

Nambucca Valley Council’s Major Event Sponsorship Grant Program is now open, providing funding of up to $10,000 for established major events and up to $5,000 for emerging events that attract visitors, boost overnight stays and support local economic activity.

Applications close on 28 September 2026, with funding available for events that showcase the region, activate local spaces and strengthen the Nambucca Valley’s visitor economy

CSIRO Kickstart Program

CSIRO Kick-Start provides matched funding of $10,000 to $50,000 to help innovative Australian start-ups and SMEs access CSIRO's research expertise for activities such as product development, testing, feasibility studies and commercialisation projects.

Applications are open year-round for eligible businesses looking to accelerate innovation and growth.

Foresty Industry Supply Chain Support

Businesses affected by timber harvesting restrictions associated with the proposed Great Koala National Park may be eligible for grants of up to $100,000 through the NSW Government’s Forestry Industry Supply Chain Support Program.

Funding is available to help offset increased hardwood, by-product and freight costs for impacted businesses, with applications accepted until 8 September 2026 and assessed in order of receipt.

Infrastructure & Equipment Grants

Dedicated live music venues across NSW can apply for grants of up to $150,000 for equipment and infrastructure upgrades, or up to $300,000 for high-end audiovisual and advanced lighting technology to enhance audience experiences and venue capability.

Expressions of interest are now open and close on 28 September 2026, with the program designed to support more accessible, sustainable and fit-for-purpose live music venues across the state.

Innovative Manufacturing Adoption 

The NSW Government’s Innovative Manufacturing Adoption Fund Stage 1 is now open, offering grants of $10,000 to $50,000 to help eligible NSW manufacturers explore advanced technologies through feasibility studies, pilot projects and early-stage testing.

The program aims to boost productivity, competitiveness and growth, with applications closing on 6 October 2026 and funding available for up to 50% of eligible project costs.

National Bioenergy Feedstock Strategy

The Australian Government has released the National Bioenergy Feedstock Strategy, outlining a roadmap to grow Australia’s bioenergy industry and create new opportunities for agricultural and forestry producers, regional businesses and communities. The strategy focuses on strengthening supply chains, supporting innovation and investment, and increasing production of feedstocks that can help reduce emissions, improve fuel security and drive regional economic growth.

EV Fleets Kick-start Funding FY26

Kick-start funding is designed for eligible businesses that are interested in piloting a few battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or for smaller fleets that want to start their electrification journey.

Any eligible organisation with an ABN can procure up to 15 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for business use, along with optional smart chargers that comply with the specifications outlined in the guidelines.

Applications close 30 November 2026

Blue Plaque Recognition

Following the recent installation of the 1965 Freedom Ride Blue Plaque in Bowraville as part of NSW’s first Blue Plaque Trail, community members are encouraged to help identify other local stories that deserve recognition.

Nominations are now open for Round 4 of the Blue Plaques NSW program, providing an opportunity to celebrate the people, groups and events that have shaped our communities and the state's history.

Investment Incentive Policy

Nambucca Valley Council’s draft Investment Incentive Scheme Policy is currently on public exhibition and proposes measures to encourage new investment, business development and job creation across the local government area.

Businesses, community members and stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft policy and provide feedback by 5pm Thursday 1 October 2026.
 

Workers Compensation Premiums

The NSW Government is seeking feedback from employers and stakeholders as part of a review into how workers compensation premiums are calculated, with a focus on improving fairness, transparency and long-term sustainability.

Businesses are encouraged to share their experiences and insights through the online survey, with consultation open until 25 October 2026.

NSW Data Centre Reforms

The NSW Government is seeking community and industry feedback on proposed data centre reforms designed to support investment in the sector while ensuring the costs of new electricity infrastructure are not passed on to households and small businesses.

Feedback is open until 14 September 2026, with the proposed changes aimed at improving network planning, cost recovery and the integration of new renewable energy and storage capacity.
