Message from CEO

Dear participants, families and carers,

Now that the federal election is over, I want to reaffirm my ongoing commitment to advocating for needs of our participants and their care network. As mentioned in previous updates, I remain focused on advancing key priorities that contribute to a more equitable, impactful and sustainable NDIS.

I would like to share that Onemda’s Innovation and Research team has launched our Transform Lives fundraising campaign this End of Financial Year. Your donations will help fund sensory spaces and assistive technology for people with disability. Contributions made before June 30 are tax-deductible. More information can be found in the newsletter below, we would love your support.

In exciting news, due to strong demand from families, we will be running our Xtend after-hours program on Tuesday nights at our Doncaster East campus. Our Thursday afternoon sessions will continue as usual. We encourage you to speak with your campus coordinator to learn more and secure a spot. Planning is also underway to expand the Xtend program to additional campuses, so stay tuned for more updates as we continue growing this great service.

Finally, I hope you enjoy the inspiring stories from our participants across all our campuses featured in this edition.

Kind regards,
Simon Lewis
Onemda CEO

Transform Lives This End of Financial Year

There’s still time to support Onemda’s End of Financial Year Fundraiser, helping us bring more Assistive Technology and Sensory Spaces to life across our campuses. These tools play a vital role in supporting emotional wellbeing, communication and independence for people with intellectual disability.

All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, so it’s a great way to make a lasting impact and claim a deduction before June 30.

Together, we can create more inclusive, supportive and empowering environments for our participants.

Listen To Me Project - Feedback Wanted

The Macquarie University "Listen to Me" project has coproduced a Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM) to make it easier for people with intellectual disability to give feedback about their health care. It is designed to use in any health care setting across Australia.

This survey the project is requested feedback on is to help us understand if the Listen to Me Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM):

  • looks like it will suit most people with intellectual disability, and
  • asks questions that are important to know about.
