Sunday Edition
Good morning, lovely members and, of course, a very happy Sunday to you all today! How was your week? Good, I hope. Mine (Maddie) was fairly uneventful, which I always think is a good thing! I did have a great working week, though. Jon and I have been working on a bunch of things behind the scenes to make the Seniors Discount Club even better for each and every one of you, and I feel like this week we made some big progress! And I honestly cannot wait to see what you all think of it. I’m sorry to be a tease. I promise all will be revealed soon enough. In the meantime, in case you didn’t get the chance to check it out in early January, this is what you can expect from us here at the Seniors Discount Club this year.
Now, before we take a look at this week’s quote of the week, I just wanted to take a moment to thank every member who emailed me a quote that they loved. I think I have just under 100 quotes that I am going to feature in our newsletters every Sunday. I cannot wait to share them all with you!
This week’s quote is thanks to member Terri M. and I think it’s incredibly special…
‘We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.’
Terri M. went on to explain to me that this quote sits on their wall and reminds them of how their family may not be perfect, but they make their world. This quote really got me thinking of how when I’m with the people I love the most, I really do feel like I have it all. It doesn’t matter if we’re sitting in a tiny house, the food we are eating, or the (cheap) alcohol we are drinking because together we have it all. There’s nothing more important than our relationships with others, and I think that’s an important thing to keep at the front of our minds. Remember, folks, that none of us has it all together, and we probably never will, but together, even in this little online community, we really do have it all.
So, let’s take a look at what happened across Australia and around the world this week, shall we?
-
We haven’t done one of these for a while! We are so excited to be doing another member spotlight and this time focusing on the incredible member Keith D. who recently received an OAM. Congratulations on this truly remarkable achievement, Keith!
-
This week, Coles, Woolworths, ALDI, and IGA gave us some fantastic deals including Hong Kong Pork & Chive Dumplings for $8, Chicken Sandwich Schnitzels for $2.50, and some home essentials. These deals are still available today!

‘Warn your friends, family, and neighbours.’ The ACCC issued an urgent warning to Aussies to watch out for a new scam involving Telstra and your mailbox. Here’s the letter you need to look out for.

ATTENTION, MEMBERS! Another major change is coming to Centrelink and it could affect HOW you are paid. Here’s everything we know so far.
-
We also saw two major recalls across the country this week: A popular LG product was recalled over fears it could cause injury or death and a popular Coles snack was recalled due to an undeclared allergen. Check your homes, members!
-
Shoppers raved about this viral dress from BIG W that was released as part of the summer collection. Will you be snapping one up this weekend?
-
We were also made aware of this little-known road rule drivers commonly break that could see you hit with a $370 fine. Did you know about this?
-
Kmart released its latest living collection which featured a $14 designer homeware dupe that is an entertaining season must-have. I know I’ll be buying one of these!
-
The 'mystery older woman' who took Prince Harry’s virginity was unmasked and she revealed her side of the story. Is this a twist you were anticipating?
-
An urgent warning was issued after a shocking discovery in a popular ALDI buy almost caused a medical emergency. Please be careful, members, especially when it comes to food.
-
A Woolworths employee revealed how a little-known tool inside the supermarket works. Don’t you just love fun facts?
-
A Coles shopper was left horrified after finding a dead animal in a bag of baby spinach. Yes, a dead animal. What is the worst thing you have found
somewhere it shouldn’t be?
-
I thought why don’t we try something a little different this Sunday? Member @MJFlack posted this ‘Weird and Wonderful Words’ thread on our forum and it is not only funny but good fun! Do you have any words you can add?
-
Finally, Australia is facing another shortage of one of the nation’s favourite foods — and it’s not the only product missing from shelves. Have you had trouble adding this to your shopping basket?
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a wrap of the top news stories from the week that was! I hope you enjoyed relaxing and reading a few stories with your Sunday morning cuppa! And you know what? There is plenty more to come below, so don’t go anywhere just yet.
