Hi Friend,
You spent a day hauling boxes up stairs, twisting them into a car trunk, and carrying furniture that had no good place to grab. You didn't overdo it. You just did what needed doing, and you got it done.
Then the next morning shows up in your low back, your forearms, your hips. Most people shrug it off as just sore. Sometimes that's all it is. Sometimes it's your body telling you something worth listening to.
- Moving loads you in shapes you never train for
A box is an awkward weight held out in front of you, on stairs, while turning. Your body doesn't practice that shape, so it improvises, and one area ends up carrying more than its share.
Try this: For the next few days, treat anything heavy like it matters. Keep the load close to your body, turn your feet instead of twisting your back, and let your legs do the work going up and down stairs.
- Same twist, same spot usually means something
General soreness fades over a couple of days. What gets my attention is one spot that keeps flaring when you bend or turn a certain way.
Try this: Notice which movement sets it off, whether it's reaching, twisting, or standing up. Jot it down so you can describe it clearly. That kind of detail tells us far more than "my back hurts."
- The forearms and hips get overlooked
Everyone expects the low back after a move. The forearms from gripping and the hips from stairs get shrugged off, even when they're part of the same story.
Try this: Give your grip a break. Open and close your hands slowly a few times, and take an easy walk to loosen the hips instead of parking on the couch all evening.
