Hello and happy Sunday, dearest SDC members! I (Jarred) hope all of you legends are having a pleasant morning to start this day. As usual, I’m starting mine with a steaming hot cup of coffee and some porridge, all geared up for the final day of weekend rest and relaxation. Ah, and speaking of legends, I’m sure most of you know one or two urban legends you’ve picked up over the years. One I often heard growing up was that the land my primary school once stood on was a graveyard, which was why it was allegedly haunted. I thought that was quite terrifying — I don’t think my mind would’ve been prepared for ghosts in between classes! But alas, the illusion broke when I noticed that other friends and some cousins started claiming their schools were also former graveyards
too. My young mind put two and two together, and I realised I was terrified of nothing. Still, I think it’s rumours and urban legends like this that add a bit of spice to the tedium of daily life, so let it be known that I’m not a total critic (staunch believer of drop bears over here 😉 Kidding)! Australia is such a huge place, so I’m sure there are tons of stories out there I have yet to hear. So, dear members, what’s an urban legend or rumour you heard growing up that you’d like to share? No matter how outlandish or bizarre
it is, feel free to post about it on our forum so other members can react or comment.
All that said, here’s this Sunday’s quote from our dear member Paul R., who said:
‘We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing!’
I’ve noticed how some members have said, ‘I’m X years young’ instead of the usual ‘X years old’ when introducing themselves, and I must say, it’s quite a refreshing take on ageing. Of course, this is not an indictment of people proud of ‘old’ age! But I think the spirit of this wonderful line is that there is also something wonderful about those who keep their youthful flames bright and burning inside their hearts. Regardless, however you shape your mindset on advancing in years, the SDC will always be here for you!
Now, time to check out what's happening in Australia and around the world today.

May they both rest in peace.
