Saturday Edition
Good morning, members, and welcome to another beautiful Saturday! Ah, nothing beats waking up on a weekend, am I right? We get to sleep in, relax, and spend time with the people we love. To be honest, I (Vella) don't have any big plans for today. I might just put my feet up and relax with a good movie and some popcorn. Or maybe I'll start listing my New Year's Resolutions. Is it too early to start thinking about that? Well, I mentioned it because I saw some gym ads on my news feed, and they got me thinking about getting fit and healthy again. What are your thoughts on New Year's Resolutions? Do you make them? And if you do, how do you make sure you stick to them? Share them in our forum thread here.
Anyway, enough about me; let's move on to today's newsletter! We have a lot of goodies for you today, so let's get straight into it!
First up, we have the answer to yesterday's riddle! So, without further ado, here it is:
Open me every day for something that can’t be beat. Behind all the doors, you will discover a tasty treat. What am I?
The answer is, of course, an advent calendar! We love a good Christmas-themed riddle. As always, if you got it correct, you'll find a shout-out waiting for you at the bottom of this newsletter.
Now, onto our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ Today we’re taking a look at the phrase ‘It's the ___ for me.’ Kids use this phrase to refer to something that stands out about a person, thing, or situation. For example, if someone is really good at basketball, you might say, ‘it's the jump shot for me.’ Or if you see a really pretty dress, you might say, ‘it's the style for me.’ Basically, if you like something, you can say, ‘it's the ____ for me.’ So next time you see your grandkids, use this phrase and see how they react!
And for the results of ‘Your Say Sunday’. As a reminder, the question was, ‘Do you believe "you get what you pay for”?’ And the winner with 48.4% of votes is… Yes! Even more interesting is that almost all the remaining voters said ‘it depends’ and opted to explain their vote in the comments. Curious? Check out what they said here.
Oh, one more thing before we get into the news, check out today’s ALDI Special Buys! There are a bunch of goodies here including some kitchen essentials. So don’t forget to browse them!

For today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment, we have a lovely memory brought to us by @Marshlad. ‘My husband (now sadly passed) played Santa Claus at a major Brisbane shopping centre for 15 years. Every day I would wash his Santa suit and clean his “beard”, ready for the following day. When our son was old enough to ask questions, we replied, “Daddy was very lucky as Santa had asked him to help him at the shopping centre.” Daddy looked a lot like Santa, and Santa had asked him to look after reindeer that were “parked” on the rooftop while
he spoke to the children. So Daddy had to dress like Santa. Our son accepted that, and every day as we drove to pick my husband up, our son would declare he could see Daddy with the reindeer on the roof.’ Read the rest of the story here.
Awww, that is such a sweet story! I love how you and your husband kept the magic of Santa alive for your son and created such special memories. It’s so lovely to read how creative people can be in making Christmas special for their little ones. Thank you, @Marshlad, for sharing your beautiful story with us!

Paddy got a job as a bus driver, and on his first morning, he just sat at the depot waiting.
The bus inspector came over to see and asked what the problem was.
Paddy says, ‘I’m waiting for the Ticket Conductor.’
