October is National SafeWork MonthEach year, Australian workplaces recognise the importance of safety during SafeWork Month. At the University, we will be hosting a number of HSW and Wellbeing sessions covering topics such as: Safety for Supervisors, Chemical Management, Risk Assessment and Wellbeing sessions focusing on mental health. Watch out for further promotion of the sessions in September. The 400th and 415th subscribers win a free coffee from a Hub Central cafe. First aid QR postersYou may have seen new First Aid posters across the University. These will continue to be installed across all University buildings providing a QR code which when scanned, will link to an up-to-date register of staff who have been trained by the University to provide first aid. Safety NoticeA power outlet burnt out from use of a domestic oil heater in a damp environment. The power outlet showed clear signs of damage and should not have been used. The oil heater was disposed of, and the damaged power outlet was replaced following a service request. The key message should be if damaged infrastructure is identified, isolate or tag it out and report it via a service request - Infrastructure | University of Adelaide. Where there is damaged or suspect equipment that is managed by a School or Branch isolate or tag it out and report it via UniSafe. Radiation Procedure consultationFeedback will be sought shortly on the review of the HSW Radiation Safety Management procedure. The updated version will be available through Staff news on the 5th September. Any comments may be submitted via the draft Policies page by COB of 27th September. |
