Sunday Edition
Hello, dear members! How are you all doing today? I (Jarred) hope you’re well this Sunday morning. Later today, I’ll be spending some time with friends who I haven’t seen in years for some catching up. When we caught up earlier last week, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of happiness and sadness seeing them again after so long. I felt sad because, in some ways, I didn’t recognise them, and I couldn’t shake off the feeling that they were strangers rather than friends at that point. But I was also ecstatic because, at the same time, it felt like nothing had changed. Funny friends were still funny, quiet friends were still quiet, and our conversations still had that natural flow despite the wild, wacky, and sometimes weird paths we have all veered off to — just like the good old days.
Speaking of the good old days, for most of the world, the COVID pandemic started to mark its presence around this time, exactly three years ago. Part of why my friends and I weren’t able to see each other for so long was because of COVID, which leads me to ask, how much has your life changed because of the pandemic? I’m so curious to read all of your answers. Maybe some things changed for the better? Maybe others for the worse? Whatever it is that changed in your life, I can’t wait to read all about it.
Now, it wouldn’t be a Sunday without our quote of the week from member @nanazorak:
‘Live today as if it was your last day to tell your loved ones that you love them.’
There’s so much going on in life that sometimes it’s way too easy to forget our family and friends, so this quote really jumped out at me, especially as we mark three years since a life-changing event that forced many of us to take a closer look at the things — and people — we treasure the most. Can you do me a favour? After reading this newsletter, tell a loved one you appreciate them. It doesn’t have to be mushy, of course! Just enough to let them know you value them.
Now, let’s look at what happened across Australia and around the world this week, shall we?
-
YOUR SAY SUNDAY: Is chivalry dead? Back in the day, the men often footed the bill at the end of a date. So we want to know, who do YOU think should pay for the first date? Have times changed, can any one pay on the first date?
-
Aussies on Centrelink payments could be in for a BOOST as calls for more cost of living relief are pushed before the release of the Federal Budget.
-
This week, Coles, Woolies, ALDI, and IGA gave us some fantastic deals, including Thin Sausages for $10, Fairy Dishwashing Spray for $6, and a chic bedroom range. These deals are still available today!
-
A grocery staple was urgently recalled over fears it’s contaminated with harmful bacteria. Don’t skip this one, members!
-
Accidental or illegal? A shopper at ALDI sparked a fierce discussion after she caught another customer’s ‘shocking’ checkout
behaviour: ‘Protect your groceries, people!’
-
Many dream of spending their golden years abroad, but can you still receive the Age Pension while doing so? Here’s everything you need to know.
-
Another store dethroned Bunnings as Australia’s top retailer this year. Was it Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, or ALDI who took the top spot?
-
Woolworths launched an epic FLASH SALE, with some items marked down by over 50%. Don’t miss out on great deals!
-
A bizarre sight left a dog walker horrified at a popular park: ‘Brings new meaning to “give a dog a bone”.’ This one is a little rude, members. So click at your own risk!
-
A grieving woman was left heartbroken after receiving a very disturbing message from her late husband’s Facebook account. How is this even possible? Members, this story may be distressing to some…
-
One bride’s dream wedding spiralled into a nightmare when she caught her groom and his mum red-handed doing a ‘harrowing’ act. There aren’t enough words to describe this story…
-
‘I use this all the time now.’ ALDI shoppers raved about this $1.99 laundry detergent, which they claim is so powerful that it can remove stubborn
stains without soaking.
-
Save hundreds of dollars on fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, and even hot roast chooks with a Woolworths shopper’s top ‘little-known’ tip. Will you be giving this a try?
-
Satisfy your cravings in a jiffy with this quick and easy microwave cupcake recipe — it all takes less than five minutes!
-
And lastly, this hilarious joke from member @Skipton has a husband married to his wife of 50 years realising something — but she’s having none of it!
Before you head off, scroll down for more fun stuff to brighten your Sunday, like another joke from member @Luckyus, an exotic ‘Picture of the Day’ from member @dragabagalong, and trivia you just kneed to know!
