UAE Government Officials Address Defense, Economy and Diplomacy in Joint Briefing

At a joint government briefing yesterday, UAE officials reinforced the country’s commitment to self-defense, security and resilience in the face of Iranian attacks.

During the briefing, UAE government officials explained that the UAE operates integrated multi-layer air defense systems capable of addressing a broad range of aerial threats through long-range, medium-range and short-range systems that provide comprehensive coverage of national airspace. They noted that the UAE maintains sufficient strategic reserves of munitions to ensure the sustainability of defensive operations over extended periods, thereby preserving combat readiness and reinforcing national security.

Other noteworthy updates include:

  • Defense Ministry Spokesperson Abdulnasir Alhameedi highlighted the UAE’s "advanced and integrated defense capabilities,” which are actively interdicting attacks to safeguard the country. The UAE has received more than 1,100 Iranian missiles and drones since Saturday — more than all other targeted countries combined, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has noted.
  • UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy affirmed, “The UAE has the right to self-defense…to protect its sovereignty and its citizens, residents and visitors.” She underscored that, “the UAE has exerted diplomatic efforts to avoid military confrontation and escalation.”
  • "The UAE’s economy has shown resilience and stability,” said UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah Al Marri. Imports continue, there are ample reserves of goods and the UAE has set up a secure air corridor to restart limited flights.
