NEWS UPDATE23 September 2022 Publishers noteThere was certainly plenty of interesting news from the industry this week. News from the Associations tell us that there is a Boating Industry Academy Open Day coming up on the 6th October for year 10 and 11 students. Understandably located in the heart of our industries boat building epicentre, the day provides school leavers a taste of what our industry has to offer. Also, on the Horizon is the much anticipated 60th Melbourne Boat Show. After a covid delay of many years, this event will be underway on 20 to 23 October albeit at a new location, extending the full length of Newquay Promenade at Docklands, and onto the Melbourne City Marina and its surrounds. For those with a passion for sailing, tickets are now on sale for the National Sailing Awards. The event – set to recognise distinguished members of the Australian Sailing community. It will be held at the stunning Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney on Friday November 4, 2022. And on the subject of Sailing, congratulations to Nautilus Marine Insurance on the announcement of their new association with Middle Harbour Yacht Club. From September 2022 Nautilus Marine Insurance will become a major sponsor of both the club. It will also be the main event partner for the Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship in November 2022, and the Sydney Harbour Regatta in March 2023. Readership numbers showed lots of interest in our story about Michelle Lee last week. Yesterday she was celebrating saying “What a cracker of a day - it was 52 nautical miles today - in one day!! I've never done that before. My weather router, Roger, has put me in a great current, I've got a running sea behind me and in a favourable current.
