Magnet Thanks and Giving

When you're running out to the grocery store this week, be sure to pick up a few extra cans for the Magnet Council's food drive. They are partnering with ABC 13 for the Share Your Holidays food drive. The food will go to the FBISD Share Your Dreams program and the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. You can drop off your donations in boxes on your unit or in the white boxes in the lobbies of Main, Sweetwater, MOB 3 and Brazos. Items needed are canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, soups/broth, crackers, granola bars, peanut butter and jelly. The food drive ends on Monday, Nov. 27. Click here for more information.

2023 United Way Campaign

Our 2023 United Way campaign is officially wrapped up and thanks to your generosity, we surpassed our original goal! HMSL raised more than $26,000! Donating to United Way helps bring lasting, effective solutions to big problems, such as family financial stability, education, health and overall quality of life. A big kudos to our United Way champion Robert Vitela and his support: Pat Hogue, Charlie Tran, Arashal Ryals, Michael McFall and George Mathews. This group worked long hours behind the scenes, making this campaign a success. Without our generous employees, we could not have raised this money for those in need in our community. Thank you all!

DNV Survey Window Approaching

Our HMSL DNV Survey window is approaching. It's always an opportunity for us to share what makes HMSL great. Mark your calendars: our mock DNV survey is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29 and Thursday, Nov. 30. To avoid common nonconformances, follow these guidelines:

  • Infection Prevention and Control: Maintain a sanitary environment; do not store items in splash zones
  • Medication Management: Do not administer medications outside order parameters; follow appropriate waste and disposal of medications
  • Patient Rights: Restraint/Seclusion Orders: Ensure correct restraint documentation and orders, ensure documentation of completed one-hour face-to-face evaluation is present and timely
  • Patient Rights: Ligature Risks: For 1:1 monitoring, ensure objective evidence that a staff member was assigned care and correct documentation of monitoring is completed, per policy

This accreditation is important because it demonstrates our dedication to our patients’ safety and care.  Click here for more information.
