Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Karen Miles - Get Focused Stay Focused Executive Director
The Get Focused Stay Focused Conference in Santa Barbara, California is less than a month away, and it will be packed with great opportunities to hear from industry leaders.
Our featured speaker this week is the Executive Director of Get Focused Stay Focused, Dr. Karen Miles.
She co-authored the Building a Bridge to Your Future curriculum to prepare middle school students to explore careers, and she introduced career exploration curriculum in high schools which impacted thousands of students.
An expert in the areas of dual enrollment and high school articulation—which provide early college credit for students—Karen has helped colleges and their K12 partners improve and expand their career pathways, provided technical assistance and professional development, and she has also assisted schools in writing and managing their grants.

Benicia High School Wins Fourth Consecutive Career Choices Gold Medal
For the fourth consecutive year, Benicia High School is being awarded with a Career Choices Gold Medal for promoting student success through their Get Focused Stay Focused program using the Career Choices series curriculum and My10yearPlan.com®.
“Students know that the purpose of the 10-year plan is not to have everything figured out in 9th grade, but to revise their ever-changing life plan as they continue to mature using the skills gained from the program,” said Rocky Kim, teacher at Benicia. “Get Focused Stay Focused has truly been a perspective shifting program for our students."
