HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2025 PERTH COASTAL FORUM The 2025 Perth Coastal Forum brought together researchers, Coastcare groups, local governments, and coastal champions for a day of collaboration, learning, and inspiration. From reef science and erosion hotspot reviews to creative approaches for community engagement, the program showcased both scientific expertise and grassroots dedication. Attendees also took part in interactive demonstrations, networking opportunities, and a guided tour of key coastal erosion sites. The forum highlighted the passion and knowledge driving coastal resilience in WA and the importance of working together to protect our world-class coastlines. NATIONAL SOIL MONITORING PROGRAM HITS THE GROUND IN THE SOUTH WEST The National Soil Monitoring Program (NSMP) has officially started in the south west of WA. Natural Resource Management officers from across the region will be reaching out to landholders to secure sites to be part of the national soil monitoring network. Perth NRM is working with Wheatbelt NRM to help establish a regional soil sampling plan. That plan begins by undertaking a desktop review of sites (supplied by CSIRO) proposed for the NSMP in the Perth NRM region. Perth NRM will then make contact with landowners and get agreements drawn up to fit into the regional sampling plan.
