NEWS UPDATE30 January 2026 Publishers noteWe often look forward to short working weeks created by long weekends, at least until we return to work and need to make up for the time lost. This week has certainly been one of those here at Marine Business News, with plenty happening behind the scenes and no shortage of news to report. The story that most stopped me this week was news of the factory fire at Haines Hunter, with operations only now beginning to restart after a two-week pause. It was a sobering reminder of how quickly circumstances can change, and of the resilience required to keep moving forward in manufacturing. Unshaken by adversity, Managing Director John Haber said, “It will take more than a fire to stop us moving forward. We are Haines Hunter, an iconic Australian brand, proudly supporting Australian manufacturing and the marine industry. I can’t simply walk away from that.” It is a statement that speaks clearly to commitment, responsibility, and belief in the industry. Meanwhile, reports of success from boot Düsseldorf continue to roll in, once again demonstrating the value of well-run events. Organisers have reported that “almost 1,500 manufacturers and dealers from 68 countries are on board, presenting boat premieres, technical innovations, accessories and equipment, or simply showcasing the world’s most beautiful water sports destinations.” With just a couple of days remaining before the doors close, we look forward to hearing more about the event’s overall success in the days ahead. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news. Marine Business News is an Australian-owned marine industry news service publishing local and international news.
