"The Australian Government is using all the tools of statecraft to play an active role in securing our future.”

“This is a resounding endorsement of Australia’s commitment to supporting development, not just through our ODA budget but through a deeply integrated foreign and development policy.”

Pat Conroy MP

Shadow Minister for International Development and the Pacific Pat Conroy MP

“We need greater coordination between development, diplomacy and defence policy, and we need greater involvement by non-government organisations and civil society.”

“I congratulate ACFID and the International Development Contractors Community for their support for the new Asia-Pacific Development, Diplomacy & Defence Dialogue. I hope this initiative can help generate new ideas on how Australia can tackle issues of conflict, security governance and state fragility in our region.”

Our program

AP4D’s inaugural program is well under way. Shaping a shared future — deepening Australia’s influence in Southeast Asia is funded by the Australian Civil-Military Centre.

More than 150 people attended online diagnostic sessions and dialogue events held from July to September on critical issues for Australia in Southeast Asia. Resulting from these sessions, working groups have been formed and have begun the process of producing options papers across five identified topics.

If you’re part of Australia’s development, diplomacy or defence community and are interested in being involved with any of the below working groups, please contact secretariat@asiapacific4d.com.
